Learning how to clean your Magnalite cookware is rather easy. It is a bit involved, but overall it is easy. It is important that you learn how to clean the cookware according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Not all cookware cleans up in the same way. You may have regular cookware that you can just run in the dishwasher or clean with soap and a sponge. Or you may have a cast iron pan, or clay baking dish that you cannot use soap on. If you want keep your cookware looking new for a long time to come, then always check out the cleaning instructions first no matter what brand of cookware you are using.
What you need to do is wash your Magnalite cookware with dish soap and water first. Then rinse thoroughly with water. Going a step further, you can sanitize the cookware by soaking it for about a minute in a mixture of 1 teaspoon of unscented chlorine bleach and 1 gallon of clean water. Then let it air dry. When using bleach it is recommended that you use brand name bleach. Be careful not to over soak, metal pots and pans should not sit in bleach for a long period of time. Don’t panic if the pan sits for just over a minute, it will not be harmed. Just don't soak it for an extended period of time.
When learning how to clean your Magnalite cookware there are some things you will need to know. The first tip is to always wear latex gloves and protective eyewear. You don’t want the solution to burn your eyes. The eyewear is strictly a matter of preference. The solution is mixed at an exact science, do not add any more bleach to the solution. You may ruin the cookware by doing so. Secondly, never, ever mix bleach and ammonia, this causes deadly fumes.
Also when learning or showing someone else how to clean your Magnalite cookware, it should be known that the color on your cookware may become discolored over a period of time. This will not change how the pan cooks your food or change the way the food tastes. In very rare occasions the pan or pot may have pitting. Pitting is deep pock marks you see on some pots. Some people may not want to use the pan again because what ever you cook is likely to stick.
